Vehicle gate to New Forest Damaged
Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 19:05, Wednesday 5 August 2026
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9903517.
The gate is damaged and hinges cannot be adjusted any more - will require a new gate, new hinge plates - suggest 4 bolts per hinge plate rather than nail in hinge bolts. Requires longer arm to open the gate from horseback.
Updates
-
This gate belongs to Hampshire highways as stated on the gate, this is not a national highways gate, please refer this to them

It is the entrance of the A36 and as such is covered by the national highways who have historixally repaired the gate many times

It may be the entrance of the A36 but the gate clearly state with multiple signs property of Hampshire highways, so why would NH fix something that is not there’s, money doesn’t grow on trees
