The roundabout has recently had new assets installed as part of an improvement scheme. However, on the next stretch of road heading towards the docks, several lighting columns have been removed following failed structural testing.
This section has also been isolated for the same reason as the columns further up in Dover town centre, namely that the high earth loop connected to the circuit has been identified as electrically unsafe.
As with the town centre location, we are investigating a potential temporary solution to the earthing issue that would allow the area to be re-energised. In the longer term, a full replacement scheme is being considered, subject to funding approval.
