Dangerous crossing.

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9844653.

Traffic for Pathfinder and Tedburn St Mary, travelling away from Exeter, must cross the opposite lane. A.30 traffic from Okehampton and Cornwall is fast moving. Fatal colisions have already occurred. There is an exsisting bridge, which is shown on the map, 1/4 mile towards Exeter. It would be possible to build a slip road so that Traffic from Exeter can use that Bridge.The central crash barrier could be completed. Any local traffic for Okehampton can use the exsisting bridge and slip road from the Cheriton Bishop junction. The problem has existed since the new A.30 was built, but there is much more taffic now. The junction is partly protected by a speed camera.

Updates

  • The A.30 / Pathfinder junction is a disaster waiting to happen. 5 accidents in the last five years, one serious. By building a slip road and using the exsisting bridge 500yards nearer Exeter, the dangerous crossing could be closed and crash barrier completed. Any traffic heading West to Okehampton can use the bridge and slip road at Cheriton Bishop junction..
