Litter along the grass edge of the A1

So much litter strewn across the grass edges of the A1. Looks as though the edges have been cut recently using a mower, which will shred the litter into tiny pieces, then becoming impossible to pick up and damaging the environment and animal life. The litter is not only damaging but incredibly unsightly. This is not just a problem on the A1, littering on the sides of the road is a nationwide problem and can be seen on most, if not all roads in the UK.

We've checked and can confirm litter picking has been done and is due to complete this week.
Littering by people is, unfortunately, a behaviour that has a big impact on some parts of our roads. We aim to keep our roads as tidy and free of litter as we can. Our litter picking is carefully planned to try to minimise the impact it has on road users and the safety of our people.
Litter picks often require lane closures, which are disruptive to traffic flow. To help reduce the frequency of this disruption, where we can, we usually combine our reactive litter picks with other maintenance work which can result in what appears to be a delayed response.
