Street light not working

  We're aware of the lighting issues at this location. The street lighting in Dover was previously surveyed as part of the National LED rollout scheme previously, which included comprehensive electrical testing. Unfortunately, this testing identified several safety concerns relating to the condition of the existing assets and cabling. In the interest of public safety, a decision was therefore made to isolate the electrical supplies to these assets.

  Given the extent of the work required to restore power and bring the infrastructure up to a safe standard, this issue falls outside of routine maintenance activities. Instead, it requires a dedicated programme of works. Investigations have confirmed a failure of the electrical circuits and cabling. As a result, the lighting has been switched off for safety reasons, and signage has been installed to advise that it’s not operational.

  The cabling, lighting units, and associated infrastructure will require full replacement, and there may also be a need to relocate assets to the verge. We’re currently seeking funding for a major scheme to address the issues at this location. Once funding is secured, the project will be incorporated into our forward programme of works in the southeast.

  Any associated major scheme will need to progress through several stages, including surveys, asset reviews, and detailed design, before a delivery programme can be fully developed and implemented.

  We recognise that a prolonged outage is far from ideal for road users and residents. However, due to underlying cable faults, we’re unable to carry out any work to restore lighting at this location. As a result, the lights will remain switched off until a future scheme can be delivered.
