More than half of the m20 street lights from j5-j8 are not working.

Reported via desktop in the Not working (NH) category anonymously at 01:31, Sunday 12 July 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9771520.

Between j5 and where the street lights end, which is between j7 and j8, half of the street lights are not working, I mean some have both lights on, some only have one of the two lights on, and some columns don't work at all. the issue has been there for years now but I haven't been on the m20 recently but I'm sure they are still broken.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report. We're aware of this fault, which involves cabling issues, is a known problem and falls outside the scope of regular maintenance to resolve the issue. Addressing the lighting infrastructure issues along sections of the M20 between Junctions 5 and 7 requires a major scheme and significant funding to rectify and restore the lighting. Unfortunately, there is currently no confirmed timescale for when funding opportunities might become available to support such a project. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Kind regards,
