Collapsed traffic light pole

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 15:03, Wednesday 8 July 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9754841.

I was cycling back to Bayston Hill from Shrewsbury and stopped at Dobbies Island waiting for the eastbound A5 traffic to stop. I leant on the traffic light pole as I waited . When the lights changed and I pused of to cross the pelican crossing, the traffic light pole collapsed behind me. I'm reasonably fit for a 70 year old, but I'm not superman so I suspect there must have been some serious corrosion around the base of he pole.
