All the drains are heavily blocked along M1 here

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9709118.

All kerb drains and gullies along this section of M1 are extensively blocked with unswept silt and debris and all the beanie kerb blocks have extensive vegetation growing from them. This is a flooding prone and high surface water risk section of very busy motorway and the drains should be cleared and the road should be swept. There is zero evidence of either being done in the past years from the extent of the issue.

  • Thank you for making your report. We regularly review flooding hotspot locations and around junction 33 is currently not an area that requires additional management, other than cyclical activities.

    It’s common for weeds to grow out of the holes in the kerbs, and this can happen over a matter of months, or weeks, in the current weather conditions. The last maintenance of this section was June, with further planned works for August, and into September

    Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.
