Barnhorn Road A259

Reported via mobile in the Abandoned Materials (NH) category by Michael McKernan at 17:54, Sunday 21 June 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9658968.

I live on Barnhorn Road. The temporary traffic lights on Barnhorn Road today have caused absolute chaos. No workers present throughout the day. No work undertaken. The fencing was not serving a purpose. The lights weren’t necessary. A sensible approach if nobody was due to work would have been to just move the fencing in a little to allow two way traffic flow. No common sense applied. Alongside this, herbrand walk was also closed. And not your issue but the trains had rail replacement buses so effectively, we couldn’t get out of our area today without severe delays. There is no consideration undertaken when planning. How are you planning to compensate residents for your short sighted planning and inconvenience please? I look forward to hearing from you. Regards

Updates

  • I am fuming with these road works I too live along Barnhorn Road and the road work have caused chaos today for surrounding rounds. I have not been able to go out due to knowing it will take me over an hour to get back. I was so angry to see no one was even working! I also now have to listen to car music all night in a heatwave with my windows open & my newborn! Thank you very much for this huge inconvenience!

  • These road works are completely ridiculous. I would like to see the traffic management plan and want to know why you think its acceptable for residents not being able to get in or out of our properties.

  • Thank you for making your report,

These works are being completed by UK Power Networks (UKPN) so we would be unable to provide note on their traffic management nor would we be able to make any adjustments here.

If you'd like to take this further, please contact UKPN.

    Kind Regards,

    National Highways.
