Traffic light sequencing causing long congestion

Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 11:42, Friday 12 June 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9608686.

We have been sitting in a northbound queue ar hurst green for 25 minutes now with the lights barely changing even when there’s little or no southbound traffic coming through. They change for a matter of seconds then a prolonged time on red again. This is ridiculous and is either faulty or needs changing!

Updates

  • Thank you for your report about the timings of the temporary traffic lights installed to manage the ongoing safety improvement works in Hurst Green.

Your frustrations are recognised and have been shared with the scheme team.

We aim to keep the traffic flowing as smoothly as possible for all directions and recognise that on occasions we might need to make changes.

If we find that any changes are due here, we will undertake those once we have established a suitable solution.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
