Lane blocked off

Lanes have been blocked off now since January. With no work being done. Has this cordoned off section been forgotten about?

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding the lane closure at J2 on the M66. There is a lane closure installed in January following a road traffic collision that caused significant damage to the parapet. As the parapet forms an essential safety barrier, it’s not safe to reopen the lane until a permanent repair can be completed. The parapet is manufactured to order and typically require up to a three-month manufacturing and delivery period. As soon as the materials are delivered, we’ll schedule the repair at the earliest suitable opportunity. Restoring the area to normal operation as soon as practicable. We appreciate this has taken longer than expected, and we’re sorry for the delay. The manufacturing lead time has been the main factor, but we’re now able to move the repair forward as soon as the materials arrive. Kind regards National Highways
