Damaged fence

Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 15:46, Tuesday 19 May 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9477271.

The fencing under the flyover has been ripped out. Multiple homeless people seem to be living under there, with waste accumulating. This is right next to Folkestone Downs nature reserve (SSSI, SAC). I have a photo if needed

Updates

  • Thank you for your report. Our inspector has attended the site to assess whether any National Highways fencing assets have been damaged. Upon inspection, no damage to National Highways assets was identified. However, our inspector noted that other fencing beneath the A20 flyover appears to have been damaged. It is understood that this fencing was originally installed for the previous landowner and has since been transferred to the current landowner, the Channel Tunnel Group. As this isn’t a National Highways asset, we’re unfortunately unable to use designated funds to carry out repairs. We kindly recommend contacting The Channel Tunnel Group Limited directly on 03457 35 35 35 to report the issue including any trespassing issues on this land. Kind regards,

    National Highways
