Driveway blocked
Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights (NH) category by Julia Robinson at 08:42, Thursday 14 May 2026

These temporary lights are causing chaos on the roundabout and whichever way I approach my home it is blocked by traffic. When is this going to be resolved ?

Thank you for your report.
On 8 May, there was a road traffic accident that destroyed several traffic signal cabinets at this location. Unfortunately, the damage was significant and extensive repair work is required.
On 9 May, we deployed temporary traffic signals as an initial solution, but we acknowledge that they didn’t provide the synchronisation required to keep traffic moving effectively and this led to the congestion you report.
Our maintenance service provider responded to this and has now implemented a more advanced temporary traffic signal solution that can replicate the phasing of the permanent signals.
We hope you’ll have seen improvement in the area, and we can assure you that the site is being monitored several times a day by traffic officers, inspectors and remote use of the cameras in the area.
We’re unable to provide a date of completion at the current time. The repairs are ongoing and the cabinets which control the lights need to be completely rebuilt and replaced, and this is reliant on availability of relevant components. As we’re sure you can appreciate, safety is our priority and we can’t remove temporary lights until repairs have been made and the permanent system is back in place and functioning as expected.
Kind regards
National Highways
