Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

We've checked and can confirm on 8 May, there was a road traffic accident that destroyed several traffic signal cabinets and has meant we can't return them to service until they are fully repaired, which will require quite significant work.

On 9 May, temporary traffic signals were deployed but have not provided the synchronisation required to keep traffic moving effectively. Our maintenance service provider is working on a more advanced temporary traffic signal solution that can replicate the phasing of the permanent signals.

We're aware the temporary lights have been causing some congestion and engineers have been on site this morning tweaking the temporary signal timings. The traffic flow appears to have improved and the congestion doesn’t appear to be quite as bad as yesterday.

Our service provider is still working to deploy a more advanced temporary system until the permanent repair takes place.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
