Footpath not being maintained

Reported via desktop in the Pavement/footpath/cycleway/bridleway issue (NH) category anonymously at 10:28, Tuesday 12 May 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9439076.

The footpath alongside the A38 from swinfen to lichfield has not been maintained in many years and is overgrown to the point that walking or cycling from Swinfen to Lichfield is dangerous. The section between Old London Road and Swinfen interchange specifically involves walking only a few cm away from the busy A38 where trucks are travelling at 60-70mph

  • Thank you for making your report. We have asked our inspection team to attend this location and assess the issue.

If any work is needed, they will arrange for this to happen. Should no immediate work be required we will continue to monitor this during our regular inspections.

Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.
