Barrier damaged
Reported via mobile in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 13:51, Tuesday 7 April 2026
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9251619.
I have reported this a number of times now and still it hasn’t been repaired. The latest reply I had from National Highways was on 3/2/26 and advised that there was an issue with a collapsed manhole. It is now 7/4/26 and still it hasn’t been repaired.
The accident that caused the damage to the barrier was in July 2025. It is now April 2026 and still it hasn’t repaired! It is now 8 months that the barrier on a major road is damaged with traffic cones in its place. When will this be fixed because 8 months is utterly ridiculous.

Thank you for your further report about the damaged pedestrian guard rail. We understand your frustrations that repairs have become protracted.
The planned replacement works were unfortunately cancelled due to an unforeseen safety critical incident that had to be attended to on the planned work date.
Our service partners are currently awaiting on roadspace approval so the works can be carried out under suitable traffic management, working around other pre planned works in the area, and the relevant team is working hard to resolve roadspace clashes in anticipation that the guard rail replacement works will be completed by the end of April.
Thank you for your patience at this time.
Kind regards
National Highways
