No warning signs for junction closure

Reported via desktop in the Abandoned Materials (NH) category anonymously at 09:35, Tuesday 7 April 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9249074.

Junction 2 closed but no overhead gantry signs to warn prior to j2. The signs at j3 even gave timing of 5 mins to reach j2 except you can't exit there. Overhead signs should inform drivers that the next junction is closed so they can take appropriate alternative routes

Updates

  • Thank you for your report about the lack of advance warning about the slip road closure.

We appreciate any frustrations with the lack of signage whilst we address a safety issue following unforeseen damage to the Medway bridge parapets.

Once we were aware of this lack of information steps were taken to address and advance warning signage is now installed.

We apologise for this oversight and thank you for your patience whilst we work to replace the damaged parapets.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
