Litter piling up on roundabout and on slip road. Despite previous comments and logs, this has not been cleared. Has been well over a year, likely more. Is not included as part of regular schedule

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about litter at this location. Whilst the slip roads lie under our maintenance responsibilities, the roundabouts are aren't owned nor maintained by us with litter picking falling to Dover District Council.

We have however passed your report to our local inspector who has reviewed the location and a request for litter picking to the westbound entry slip has been raised.

Littering by people is, unfortunately, a behaviour that has a big impact on some parts of our roads. We aim to keep our roads as tidy and free of litter as we can. Our litter picking is carefully planned to try to minimise the impact it has on road users and the safety of our people.

Litter picks to slip roads require lane closures, which are disruptive to traffic flow. To help reduce the frequency of this disruption, where we can, we usually combine our reactive litter picks with other maintenance work which can result in what appears to be a delayed response.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
