Markings that indicate destinations are faded.

Reported via desktop in the Faded / Hard to see (NH) category by Scott Lunn at 21:14, Monday 30 March 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9215029.

Scotch Corner is a difficult junction. Two accidents last week. Those who know the junction well drive confidently (sometimes too confidently). The many visitors that pass through need clear indicators as to which lane to be in.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

We understand your concerns about the Scotch Corner junction on the A1(M).

We do have plans to update the road markings at this location. We aim to coordinate this work with other planned schemes to help minimise costs and reduce disruption to road users.

We anticipate the changes will be completed in Spring 2027, subject to the availability of funding.

    Kind regards, National Highways
