Very Deep, and large pothole (I have reported as danger to life)

Reported via desktop in the Pothole (NH) category anonymously at 12:42, Thursday 19 March 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9147261.

Large, deep (danger to life) pot holes on the outer most lane, approximately 1 mile before Tibshelf services, M1 Southbound. This feels like it is a long standing issue.

My son drove over that pothole today (19/03/2026) at around 10:45 am and got an instant blow out on front driver side tyre. Luckily the car has drive flats and Tibshelf Services is nearby, but trying to negotiate across 4 full lanes of fast motorway traffic with a blow out is very dangerous. It would be very easy for somebody to lose control, especially a motorbike.

Hopefully this problem will be resolved very quickly, before somebody is injured.
