Bad illumination of the island in the middle of the road

Reported via mobile in the Not working (NH) category anonymously at 10:33, Monday 9 March 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9071781.

Hi, I travel the A5 very often passing this pedestrian island crossing. Multiple times it’s damaged each year as it’s not seen until too late! It gets lots of spray and muck off of the passing vehicles. There is a street light over it but it proves inadequate. May I suggest fitting an extra white light half way up this lamp post similar to the type fitted to Zebra crossings. This I think would bolt-on easily and of course the supply to power it is readily available in the cut-out below, saving at least some or lots of repairs to this street furniture!
