Traffic build up due to light squencing

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category by David Roper at 23:05, Wednesday 4 March 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9047729.

I’m told that the light sequencing in the m69/a5 junction has changed recently, the result is queuing traffic on the m69 northbound. This is going to cause a crash soon. There is no overhead signage northbound on the m69 to provide warning. Lots of drivers are pulling in at the last second having missed the queue. There will be a death soon.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

The information you provided around the operation of the traffic lights has been passed to our technical team to review our data.

We aim to keep the traffic flowing as smoothly as possible for all directions and recognise that on occasions we might need to make changes.

If we find that any changes are due here, we will undertake those once we have established a suitable solution.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
