Litter left behind

Reported via desktop in the Slip Roads (NH) category anonymously at 22:36, Tuesday 3 March 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 9040888.

Hi, I think a half attempted litter pick might have been done here by contractors, however at least 50% of it is still there. Bushes are thick, bottles on the bank, bags, sandbags etc all left behind. If that is the service that we pay for it truly is appalling! Is someone doing this properly at all? Thanks

Updates

  • Thank you for your report.

We can confirm that we carried out a litter pick here on the nearside verges last week, and the central reservation will be completed in March. It’s not always possible to do a whole area in one go, and can require multiple visits depending on amount of work needed, manpower, other works in the location/roadspace availability etc.

We’ll be doing a network drive next week to review litter and raising reactive litter picks accordingly where required.

    Kind regards National Highways
