Uneven surface
Reported via mobile in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 13:06, Tuesday 24 February 2026
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8988904.
Straight Lane is the main A259, there is an access lid/panel in the road that is not level with the road whilst it looks ok it is a bump The vehicles using the road have over the years got larger and heavier, the access lid /panel is making the vehicles bounce which is making my house vibrate causing cracks to appear in several locations. I am also requesting a revision of the speed, which is at present 50mph although it tends to be ignored I followed a foreign HGV vehicle that passed my house at 72 mph. As you pass my house going east approx 50mts it increases to the national speed limit, 400mts to the west is a blind bend so vehicles going east exiting the bend see the national speed sign and increase there speed passing my house at horrendous speeds to then have to slow down for the railway crossing at another 300mts further on which seems ridiculous to me and poor planning. The A259 at our village has only a bollard crossing for school children to get to the centre of the village, then a railway crossing and then another school at Brenzett I carried out my own survey to reduce the speed to 40mph from entering our village boundary from the west to the Brenzett round about increases travel time by 25 seconds
