Series of large potholes in lanes 1 and 2 of M56 eastbound just before J7 traffic joins

Reported via desktop in the Pothole (NH) category anonymously at 19:06, Friday 13 February 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8914634.

There are a series of large potholes towards the edges of lanes 1 and 2 on the M56 eastbound (towards Manchester) just before the J7 traffic joins. This is on the old section of the M56 which wasn't properly re-surfaced during the conversion of J7 to J5 to SMART Motorway. These potholes have been in this location for about 6 months and seem to be getting worse. I think they could soon cause drivers to have blow outs if they catch them at the wrong angle.
