Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8906477.

On the grass next to the main road it’s all sunken( sink hole). Hole is quite deep and will eventually go onto the main road.

Location- from Delhi street down towards Marfleet around half way on the grass.

Updates

  • Thank you for reporting this issue.

Our contractors and drainage team investigated and made the area safe on Friday.

Since then, we have removed a lighting column affected, have refixed pedestrian guardrail and are backfilling the area with granular material as an interim solution.

We have not found an obvious underlying cause for the sinkhole. It may have just been the result of the prolonged rain on poor soil compaction. We will however be monitoring the area for a while before we fully reinstate the verge and lighting column to make sure there is no further movement.

    Kind Regards National Highways
