The River Axe sign on A35 in Direction toward Dorchester is obliterated with Graffiti
Reported via mobile in the Graffiti (NH) category by Craig Barrett at 11:23, Wednesday 11 February 2026
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8892290.
Last year in July 2025 when the graffiti strike occurred I contacted : Axminster Town Council East Devon District Council Devon County Council Cornwall & Devon Police I reported the graffiti to each of them . The sign with the boat on for the river axe remains obliterated and a blight on an area of aoonb.
Im baffled as to why it’s not been taken down/ cleaned/ replaced etc .

Dear Mr Barrett
Thank you for your enquiry which has been passed to us by National Highways Central Team.
SWHBBIS can confirm that an inspection will be undertaken of the area to check to see if it is the sign that has recently been replaced. Unfortunately, as soon as we replace the signs they are vandalised.
We do have other signs waiting to be replaced on the A35 Axminster Bypass so this may be within the list.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Regards
Claire

Dear Craig
We can confirm that the sign is on the list to replace, and we are in the process of replacing signs throughout the A30/A35 between now and September 2026.
Regards
Claire

Dear Ms Dean The River Axe sign is very specific. Is it on the list to replace?
It has not been replaced recently and has been obliterated with graffiti since June 2025 ,
Are your agency replacing it ? And if so when ?
