Traffic Signal Timing Concern at Handy Cross Roundabout Junction (M40 J4)

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 15:57, Friday 6 February 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8855281.

The current signal timing seems inadequate to clear vehicles from the junction box between phase changes, resulting in gridlock at the main roundabout.

Vehicles proceeding on green are frequently unable to exit the junction before the signals change, causing those travelling in the perpendicular direction to become blocked when their phase begins.

This issue appears to have worsened recently and is creating both safety concerns and considerable delays.
