17 street lights are not working at night

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8852115.

Around this roundabout which is a very dangerous junction, there are at least 17 lamp posts not working at night. I have previously reported this before Christmas and was marked as resolved. This is a real problem as you cant see the roadmarkings in the wet and dark and lane control is vital at this junction. Can someone please get out and check these. If you send me a plan I will mark which ones are not on!

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about the streetlights.

    We have switched lighting off on this stretch of road to support the Department of Transport’s aim to reduce carbon emissions. These roads have been carefully chosen with all road users safety considered. We are still using road lighting where it is needed, however, we are confident that we can use less of it without a significant impact on safety. We will continue to monitor this and may restore the lighting if the situation changes.
