Boulder just before the layby on A120

Reported via mobile in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 23:49, Thursday 5 February 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8849377.

I am writing to formally report an incident and to seek compensation for damages incurred to my vehicle as a result of a road hazard on the A120 just before the layby which on google maps comes up as 393 A120

On 31st January at 13:45, while driving along the A120, I encountered a large boulder on the dual carriageway. The boulder caused significant damage to my vehicle, including a damaged tire, a damaged alloy wheel, and damage to the suspension. Another vehicle was also affected at the same time, suffering two damaged tires due to the same obstacle.

I believe that the presence of this boulder on a main road represents a failure to maintain a safe roadway, and I am requesting that compensation for the repair costs is considered that I have incurred as a result.

I have photographs of the damage and am happy to provide any additional information you might need.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.
