The traffic lights are dead

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 21:02, Wednesday 4 February 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8841098.

Again, less that 1 day from the lights being back on they are dead again. Nothing, not stuck on red, dead. I feel there is something far more wrong with them than a quick fix, this is an ongoing issue that requires a proper fix.

Updates

  • Tried National Highways this morning but they say 'call Shropshire Council'.

Clearly someone is doing something as the pile of barriers is growing, and it has worked briefly.

Spoke to Shropshire council , their system bats it back to National Highways. Helpful chap at council is adding note about this game of blame tennis.

  • It’s definitely the highways that’s in charge of the lights. There is roadworks due in a week or so I believe but it doesn’t stop the lights working!

  • Thank you for making your report. We have asked our inspection team to attend this location and assess the issue.

If any work is needed, they will arrange for this to happen. Should no immediate work be required we will continue to monitor this during our regular inspections.

Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.

    Kind regards National Highways
