New Large cracks appearing in Roundabout road surface

Reported via desktop in the Road surface (NH) category by Nick Roberts at 19:00, Wednesday 4 February 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8840328.

Reference my earlier report in 2023. As observed 4/2/2026, 16:45. Junction 2, M40. North side of roundabout where A355 crosses M40 Motorway, adjacent southbound M40 down ramp. Within the last two weeks, new large cracks have appeared in multiple lanes of this road surface. These cracks are deep, up to 4 inches wide and several feet long. The cracks match those on the South side of the roundabout, which I reported in 2023 and which were patch repaired but have now developed in much larger and numerous potholes and cracks. IMHO, it appears that this bridge is undergoing continuing subsidence. The possibility arises, at some point in the near future, that without repair, a major accident may occur involving collisions or partial roadway collapse.
