Flooding

Reported via desktop in the Flooding/drainage (NH) category anonymously at 06:27, Tuesday 27 January 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8774977.

There is flooding on the outside lane heading East. This is happening every time there is heavy rain for at least 12 months. Vehicles are travelling at speed (70mph), very large waves of water are going over the central barriers and on to the traffic coming the opposite way (west). This is extremely dangerous, it could cause an accident.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report.

We're currently carrying out vegetation clearance and drainage works along this stretch of the A27 to both the east and west bound carriageways to improve the performance of the drains and gullies.

A significant stretch of the road is included in these works, so thank you for your patience will we look to complete.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
