Old lane markers causing dangerous driving for ADAS
Reported via desktop in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 18:59, Sunday 25 January 2026
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8765303.
Just before the 1/2 mile sign westbound for Carland Cross, old previous lane markers are causing ADAS systems to swerve into the adjacent land. This is highly dangerous and it is the National Highways responsibility to take action to remove old lane markers which would fix this problem before someone has a serious accident. I have video of this occurring from my own vehicle which I can provide on request.

Dear Alex
Thank you for your notification on Fix my Street on 25 January regarding the A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross project.
We are very sorry to hear that the old road markings are causing difficulties when using Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) while travelling along the A30. The temporary stud markings were put in place during scheme works to reduce the Westbound traffic to a single lane. Please note that the temporary studs on the A30 were positioned correctly, and removed in line with current practice and to National Highways Standards. These temporary markers are used nationwide across A-roads and Motorways.
We thank you for bringing your observations to our attention. We understand that this might not be the answer you were hoping for and appreciate that this will be disappointing news. We apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused. Please take care when using ADAS systems on the road.
Thank you again for contacting the A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross project. If you require general updates on the A30, please visit our scheme website. If you would like to contact the scheme for more information, you can email A30ChivertontoCarlandCross@nationalhighways.co.uk or call 0300 123 5000.
