Severely damaged road surface across multiple lanes

Reported via mobile in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 16:30, Saturday 24 January 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8759189.

The road surface is severely damaged across multiple lanes at junction 5 on the M60. It is so severe that, on hitting it at 70mph I nearly lost control of my vehicle. The road surface is so badly damaged here that the depth must be 3-4 inches. It certainly made a loud bang as my car went into it. And caught me by such surprise that I nearly lost control. Please fix this as it seems really dangerous

Updates

  • I have experienced same as previous reporter this morning, I hit at somewhere between 60 & 70 miles an hour as I attempted to slow down as I spotted the damage to the surface of the road. I was sent into the second overtaking lane by my cars response to hitting one of the multiple unavoidably large potholes. It also appears that my nearside front wheel has been damaged. This seems incredibly dangerous and should be considered a priority as an emergency repair before there is a serious incident.
