Significant uneven surface

Reported via mobile in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 17:53, Friday 23 January 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8754256.

The road that meets a bridge spanning the M23 on has dropped slightly on both sides so now there is a well demarcated edge that has arisen which is quite high compared to the road and very prominent - it almost seems sharp! We have had a puncture about 50 yards after going over this at 35mph which we suspect was the bridge and this prominent edge. It has caused the bridge to be higher than the road. Then road this bridge is on is Green Lane. This has been an issue for a couple of years now but it has significantly worsened quite rapidly in the last few months.

Updates

  • Thank you for making your report. We have asked our inspection team to attend this location and assess the issue.

If any work is needed, they will arrange for this to happen. Should no immediate work be required we will continue to monitor this during our regular inspections.

Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.

    Kind regards
