Extremely faded/ non existent filter lane road markings

Reported via mobile in the Faded / Hard to see (NH) category anonymously at 16:48, Friday 16 January 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8704274.

Coming from Cramlington on the B1505 towards the Moor Farm Roundabout there is a small roundabout which has a left filter lane. The markings are so poor and faded that I have had several near misses and many heated arguments about who has priority. I am a driving instructor and teaching my students on this road is becoming very dangerous because the markings are so poor. I have complained to Northumberland County council but they say that it is not their road so I am pleading with you to come and re paint the markings. The road surface is shocking as well but I can cope with that. It’s the lack of markings which is so dangerous. This has been an issue for at least 4 years if not longer and the markings are just about non existent now.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

The local authority is responsible for maintenance issues of this nature on this road.

We are responsible for England’s motorways and major A roads but the roundabout you reference, where the A1171 and B1505 meet, is under local Authority responsibility.

We would advise that you get back in touch with Northumberland County Council and for your convenience, please find a link to their website below:
