Pothole - middle lane M1 northbound between jct 23 and 24

Reported via mobile in the Pothole (NH) category anonymously at 15:03, Wednesday 14 January 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8687812.

Huge deep pothole that is extremely dangerous in the middle lane, about blew a shock absorber out hitting it at nearly 70mph, on the left hand side of the middle lane so right on the wheel tracks of where a cars tyres would rrun. National Highways spend plenty of time closing lanes on the M1 at night where all they do is put cones down but cant close a lane to fix potholes. The recent bad weather has caused this pothole because of a previously bad repair causing the road to crack when its frozen.
