Partially blocked drains between South Newton and Wilton on the A36

Reported via desktop in the Flooding/drainage (NH) category by Chris Swanton at 00:03, Wednesday 14 January 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8683581.

When have significant rainfall many drains along this section of road, due to blockages or poor design and maintenance, aren’t able to remove large amounts of standing water from the road, forcing vehicles to move to the middle of the carriageway, which is obviously dangerous to oncoming traffic. Highways England need to address this problem urgently, as its a disgrace that a busy trunk road which is part of the strategic road network in the south of the country, frequently has large amounts of standing water along this stretch of road, which is dangerous to not only vehicles but to pedestrians using the pavement.
