Rubish (litter) along A1 (M)

I would like to raise a further complaint regarding the condition of the A1(M) between Hatfield and Letchworth Garden City, in both northbound and southbound directions (especially between Jct 3 and Jct 9). I have not used this section of the motorway for some time, and I was genuinely shocked by the amount of litter visible along the carriageway and verges. The scale of the rubbish suggests a long-term lack of effective maintenance rather than an isolated issue. As a Polish national who has lived in the UK for many years, I feel compelled to say that such a state of a major motorway would not be acceptable in Poland. Unfortunately, the current condition of this stretch of the A1(M) reflects a broader lack of care — from road users, authorities, and highway maintenance services alike. It gives an impression of no pride being taken in the appearance of the country’s strategic road network. I would like to ask whether there is a planned maintenance and litter clearance programme in place for the A1(M) throughout the year, and if any dates are scheduled for cleaning this section of the motorway. In my view, this time of year is particularly suitable for litter clearance, as vegetation is minimal and access to verges is easier and more effective. I am unable to provide photographs, as I cannot safely use a phone while driving.
