Overgrown trees and bushes

Reported via mobile in the Pavement/footpath/cycleway/bridleway issue (NH) category anonymously at 08:15, Thu 4 December 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8499711.

At the spiral walkway down from Myton Bridge to Citidel way the pathway is covered in overgrown shrubbery which makes it very slippy when walked as very wet and overgrown. Further down onto the pavement and the trees are growing right on to the pavement which to avoid you have to walk on the road. It also blocks the view at the junction for drivers turning off Citidel way. Also to add on Myton Bridge there are various bits of debris on the pathway inc signage, a broken large sun canopy and other discarded large plastic debris. The pathway is also very dark coming eastbound from Market place due to around 4 sets of lights being out which makes the debris on the footpath dangerous.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways to report overgrown vegetation and lights not working on the A63. We’ve instructed our team to clear the shrubbery and vegetation between Myton bridge and Citadel way. This should be completed in the next 28 days.

Our inspection team will also attend this location and assess the lighting issue on the pathway.

If any work is needed, they will arrange for this to happen. Should no immediate work be required we will continue to monitor this during our regular inspections.

Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.

    Kind regards National Highways
