Broken flashing gantry signs

Reported via mobile in the Electronic Sign (NH) category anonymously at 00:49, Friday 21 November 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8446383.

Both sides of the a2 between Gravesend (E) and to the bluewater turn off have broken flashing signs. some of them don’t light up at all. some of them stay on all day in one singular lane. some of them don’t even flash at all but show speed limits. i think you would have to get this checked by running test messages and driving along and make notes. this isn’t the exact place of the issue which is why above i have stated the stretch of a2 which has issues.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

I've forward your enquiry onto our technology team who've provided the following feedback.

They tried to locate the area based on the description provided, but it covers a very large stretch of road with no clear direction of travel, and there is a significant amount of technology installed there.

Along the A2/M2 corridor, we have older technology, including several gantries that require new message signs. Unfortunately, the specific parts needed are not easily obtainable and are currently in short supply. Due to this shortage and limited accessibility, the gantries with those assets will need to be included in the forward renewal programme.

    Kind regards National Highways
