Congestion / safety hazard

Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 23:08, Wed 12 November 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8411696.

Description: There is regular heavy congestion on the northbound exit slip road at M5 Junction 14, particularly during weekday peak periods between 7–9 am and 4–7 pm. Traffic frequently queues back from the roundabout onto the main M5 carriageway, with queues often extending over a mile down the motorway.

This creates a significant safety hazard, with stationary or slow-moving traffic in lane 1 and drivers forced to brake sharply. Near-misses are becoming increasingly common as through traffic encounters the back of the queue.

Please could this junction be reviewed for urgent safety improvements or traffic management measures to prevent queues extending onto the main carriageway.

Direction affected: Northbound exit slip
