Hedges and Bushes Causing Obstruction on MK Redway

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown or obscuring view (NH) category anonymously at 08:58, Monday 10 November 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8396800.

Overgrown hedges and bushes blocking the MK redway (walking and cycling infrastructure) inside the roundabout at Redmoor A5 junction. See below for details of action taken so far:

I have already tried to log this issues with both MK Council and following their feedback that it is not in their jurisdiction, I logged it with the MK Parks Trust, who also confirmed it is not in their jurisdiction and they referred me to you, see the email below:

Dear Mr Pawson,

Thank you for your email.

I am sorry to report this is not Parks Trust land (see attachments). Our jurisdiction lies the other side of the West Ashland bridge/underpass.

The land you have queried falls under Highways agency to maintain.

---

I do have photos of the problem if that helps.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding the obstructed Redways.

The local authority is responsible for maintenance issues on the Redmoor roundabout and the Redway system.

I appreciate that they have indicated that it is National Highways responsibility however this is incorrect. We are only responsible for the A5 and adjoining slip roads.

Please contact them to resolve this issue. Contact details for local authorities can be found by using the search facility at:

    www.gov.uk/find-local-council

    Kind regards,

    National Highways

State changed to: not the council's responsibility
