Abandoned temporary speed sign causing chaos

Reported via desktop in the Abandoned Materials (NH) category anonymously at 23:29, Wednesday 5 November 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8382338.

On westbound A27 Havant bypass at the Hayling Island junction there are temporary speed restrictions for no active road repairs. These signed have been here for over 10 months, since early 2025, and so obviously have been forgotten. Request that these signs are removed as they are causing significant daily commuter delay.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding the traffic management equipment.

In some cases we do leave items in place for future use. Some isolated cones may also be in place for a specific purpose that may not be clear to passing vehicles.

On the A27 in this area, a temporary speed limit has been installed until repairs to a damaged parapet can be completed. The reduction in speed is to avoid any further accidents involving the public or any more damage to the parapet. We’re looking to complete a permanent repair at the earliest opportunity, but unfortunately we don't yet have a date for this.

    Kind regards National Highways
