Health and Safety risk

Reported via mobile in the Flyposting (NH) category anonymously at 16:35, Mon 27 October 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8344780.

Whilst driving along M6 today I witnessed a flag blow off a bridge and land on a passing car, momentarily obstructing the view of the driver. Following the storm last night I noticed that many of the flags along this road were hanging on by a few threads. I think that they now pose a health and safety risk to passing motorists and should be removed as soon as possible. Whilst very patriotic I think this incident highlights how not following regulations relating to the materials and fixings used when attaching such flags poses a risk to motorists and the general public. Please could you let me know when you intend to remove them. I know the removal will be seen as controversial given the current political climate but I believe it is your duty of care to ensure the safety of the public. Please note that I have also sent a copy of this email to my local MP and Heidi Alexander the Secretary of State for transport
