Between Sedgebrook and Whatton along the A52
Reported via desktop in the Cat Eyes/ Reflectors (NH) category by Michael Bird at 10:18, Thursday 23 October 2025
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8329567.
This is a substantial section of and important road. For much of its length the cats eyes have become invisible (there are a few short stretches where they still work, but not much. The white lines, both centre and verge have worn away badly to the point where they are invisible, particularly at night and even mores when it is raining. Sections are wide, particularly near Whatton and it is very hard to position your vehicle in relation to oncoming traffic. This is particularly so where there are serious bends, such as at Sedgebrook and Elton, and at Redmile Lane. It is an extremely disconcerting (and I believe dangerous) section of road. Strangely the whole picture improves dramatically once you reach Whatton Prison, beyond which there are street lights and everything is 100%. The situation I have described has existed for a considerable time, and reflects a lack of attention over several years. There is potential for serious accidents which can and should be avoided. The road is difficult enough without the added hazard of invisible road markings.
