Overgrown hedge

Reported via mobile in the Pavement/footpath/cycleway/bridleway issue (NH) category anonymously at 14:28, Tue 14 October 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8294574.

Hedge along pavement between Village Hall carpark and South Newton is overgrown. It is dangerous for anyone to try walking along there. You have had operatives out today clearing dirt from side of pavement but hedge is over halfway across pavement. This means you are pushed out towards road and pavement is not wide enough to walk along holding a child’s hand! Speed limit is 40mph but the lorries are very close as they go past Yes I have reported in previous years but that is previous years and obviously hedge grows back again!

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways concerning the hedge on the A36. We appreciate you taking the time to contact us about this.

We carry out regular inspections of all our routes and cut the vegetation back where we find that it is limiting visibility of road signs or other traffic. Your concerns have been passed to our maintenance team. They’ll inspect the area shortly and if necessary arrange for vegetation to be cut.

If you require any further information please contact our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 5000 or info@nationalhighways.co.uk.

    Kind regards
