Growth over hanging my property’s roof

Reported via mobile in the Overgrown or obscuring view (NH) category anonymously at 20:05, Mon 6 October 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8260711.

There are some very large branches over hanging my roof, if they were to fall they would cause significant damage

Updates

  • I’m sorry to hear about the tree that is overgrown near your home and thank you for bringing this to our attention. You may prune unprotected trees and hedges overhanging your land, and the roots growing beneath your land, up to your boundary. You don't need our permission to do this. We only take action when a tree causes a legal nuisance to neighbouring properties. This means a nuisance that is actionable in law. For example, when trees are actually touching buildings and causing direct damage. You can read more about our trees policy at the following web address: https://nationalhighways.co.uk/ our-work/ environment/ biodiversity/ trees-near-your-property/

    Kind regards National Highways
