Flooding at Pedestrian crossing

Reported via desktop in the Pavement/footpath/cycleway/bridleway issue (NH) category anonymously at 10:35, Wed 17 September 2025

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8176716.

Hi, the pedestrian crossing over the A43 has become unusable due to water pooling up in front of the crossing. Water has been coming out of the grass bank behind the garden centre fence. This has been happening all summer, but has become increasingly worse during and after rain. Lorries and cars then drive through the floodwater and makes standing at the crossing impossible. The drainage along the kerb is also not taking the water away.

Updates

  • Thank you for making your report. We have asked our inspection team to attend this location and assess the issue.

If any work is needed, they will arrange for this to happen. Should no immediate work be required we will continue to monitor this during our regular inspections.

Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.

    Kind regards National Highways
